Greene County district court, week ending Aug. 7

In Greene County district court Christopher Robert Ciesla, 61, of Jefferson was sentenced Aug. 4 to five years in prison on each of two counts of sex exploitation of a minor, amended from purchase/possess depiction of minor in sex act. The prison terms were suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for three years. The prison terms will be consecutive if they’re ever served. In a special sentence, after completing probation or prison, he will be supervised by the Department of Correctional Services as if on parole. He must register as a sex offender. A judgment was entered for a $1,025 fine with a $153.75 surcharge and a $260 sex offender civil penalty on each charge. Court costs were $620. Three counts of purchase/possess depiction of minor in sex act were dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Veronica Laine Ellsbury, 41 of Grand Junction was sentenced to one year in jail with credit for time served after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. The jail sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any treatment recommendations at her own expense. She was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. A magistrate court charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Braden Gersema, 20, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must pay a $430 civil penalty and $100 court costs. A charge off possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Matthew Michael Rank, 17, of Churdan was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of criminal mischief- third degree. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must pay a $855 civil penalty, restitution not to exceed $500 for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Shaun Harold Warnke, 47, of Scranton was sentenced to 20 days in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. he was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. He must pay an amount not to exceed $166.90 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Larry Lee Rix, 29, of Scranton was sentenced to 15 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- fifth degree, amended from theft- fourth degree. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge; both were suspended. Court costs were $100. Weltzin, 30, of Grand Junction, operating while intoxicated- second offense, and driving while license revoked; Issiaha Keegel, 29, of Grand Junction, animal neglect with serious injury or death, and animal abuse; Lalecia Marie Tubbs, 27, of Churdan, operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana; and Julie Ann Simms, 59, of Carroll, possession of controlled substance- third or subsequent offense, and possession of marijuana- second offense.
